Maintenance

circuit breaker switch to get the power back on compared
to the hassle and danger of
replacing fuses.

If you're thinking of selling your house it shows to prospective buyers
that you have been keeping on top of things and not neglecting things
like house electrics.
Safety
The RCDs in a new consumer unit
can make your house hundreds of times safer than the old fuses. RCDs
(if fitted correctly) can save lives and prevent some house
fires.
Aesthetics
In a modern house they simply look better.
Legislation
You
are not allowed to install or alter any electrical circuits unless they
are protected by RCDs ( i.e like the ones in a new
consumer
unit)
